Single Jersey Knit
- Their front and back faces look different from each other.
- They are fabrics that are produced in the form of tubes, but can also be used in the form of open width by cutting.
- Wider widths can be obtained in single jersey fabrics compared to rib and interlock fabrics.
- It stretches both transversely and longitudinally at approximately the same rate. - If they are stretched too much, their shape may be distorted.
- When they are used as clothing, they do not wrap around the body compared to other weft-directional knitted fabrics, due to their low elasticity.
- Single jersey knit fabric has less patterning possibilities than other knits.
- Since the knitting pattern is formed on a single needle on a single plate, it is the type of knitting with the least amount of yarn consumed per unit area.
- When they are cut, curls occur from the sides towards the back of the fabric, and from the top and bottom to the front of the fabric.
- They are less prone to wrinkling.
